SIV Courses

An SIV course is pretty much the most fun way there is to become a safer pilot!

We’ve developed our SIV programme over the past few years so you can develop useful skills you’ll need when flying out in the real world. The manouvers fall into three broad categories: Understanding and using the glider’s energy, dealing with instability and getting out of tricky situations.
For your first SIV, we start with dolphin flying and dynamic turns to learn more about your glider’s limits, energy and proper pitch control. We’ll do as many collapses as it takes for you to be ready to deal with them when they happen in a thermal. Spirals and collision avoidance turns will get you ready to get out of trouble. Those that are ready for it and want to progress further can do full stalls and start working towards acro manouvers.
We do all of this in a progressive way designed so you have the knowledge and skills at the end of the course to put it into action when you need it. For those that have done an SIV or two before, the course is, of course, adaptable.

All this takes place in the safest possible conditions – over water with a rescue boat on hand – in the stunning setting of Oludeniz.

Pilot requirements

  • BHPA Clup Pilot rated
  • Current in both nil wind (forward) and stronger wind (reverse) launches.
  • You don’t need masses of experience before you do an SIV. The course will be adapted to suit your level. It’s never too early to start learning to be a safer pilot – as long as you can take off and land safely without radio guidance.
  • Travel insurance that covers solo paragliding

Not included:

  • Flights to Dalaman Airport
  • Airport Transfers
  • Accommodation
  • Forestry Commission tax – approx TL30-40 for each trip to take-off

Flights and accommodation:

  • Easyjet, British Airways, Tui, Pegasus and Jet 2 all fly direct to Dalaman from Gatwick and other London Airports.
  • We usually schedule our courses to tie in with the Easyjet flights, but you can take any flights that are convenient.
  • Accommodation in Magic Tulip Beach Hotel (3*) starts at £17 per room per night
